SPRINGER-CARRIER FACTORY, BRAZIL
Location: Canoas, Brazil
125,000 SF Renovation
Completion: 1999
Springer-Carrier is the South American affiliate corporation of Carrier Corporation, a manufacturer of air-conditioning systems worldwide. In an effort to expand their South American market, Springer-Carrier is now promoting "increased productivity" to industrial customers through the implementation of daylighting and solar powered cooling systems. The first example of this approach was their own factory in Canoas, Brazil, where they have replaced 125,000 SF of exiswting roof to incorporate a saw-tooth, daylighting roof system, which has reduced the cooling load significantly.

The next phase was to install Power Roof fixed arrays (VAC 2000) to the sawtooth roof assembly to provide enough thermal energy to drive the absorption cooling.
